Every commercial building, be it company offices, business offices, hospitality facilities, retail spaces, health facilities, educational schools and institutions, and government buildings, require an individual solution for the right carpet flooring regarding the choice for the project at hand. With commercial carpets there is a parmount need for performance in anti-static, flammability and ACCS Grading. considerations in choosing which commercial carpet to install in your property
What is the maximum amount of money you wish to spend on your carpet flooring?
In arriving at this budget figure, consideration is to be given as to how long do you want the carpet to last, and for how long do you want the carpet to be looking good (appearance retention properties of the carpet). These questions are more or less decided by the issue of carpet quality and the composition of its carpet fibres. Generally speaking the higher the carpet quality the higher the price. But I say not necessarily so.
This budget figure will dictate the carpet ranges available to you. In viewing these carpet ranges that are available to you take a look at the fibre composition and you will notice that it will be either Olefin, Polypropelene, Nylon or wool which is what commercial carpets are made of.
EVALUATION OF THE CARPET QUALITY by CARPET'S FIBRE COMPOSITION
The cheapest segment of the market is dominated by the Olefins/proplyproplenes. They are fine in situations of light to moderate traffic flow. They have a tendency for their pile to flatten and once flat they don't rise again. This process is called "uglying out". This is what is termed poor appearance retention properties. But these carpets sell like hot cakes due to their low prices. They perform well in stain resistence.
The Middle end of the market is the commercial nylon carpet. It is the carpet in which its pile and "appearance retention propeties" has the longest life longevity. One can expect the carpet appearance to hold its looks for a long time from the date it was installed. Due to the fact that the fibre is "solution dyed" the carpet has excellent stain resistance properties.
The most expensive fibre is wool and so commercial carpet made with this fibre is the costiest. It doesn't have the same restance to stains as the above synthetic carpets. But it does perform well in the event of a building catching on fire and hence is often specified in the construction of buildings for this reason.
CARPET SPECIFICATIONS AS SET BY BUILDING REGULATIONS AND COUNCIL REGULATIONS
It may well be that your hand is tied by regulations as to what fibre and grade of carpet you are allowed to install in your property. For this information contact your council.

Even though the management of a residential and commecial carpet installations have similarities they can be totally different. Commecial carpet installations are harder, requiring more skill.
