There are numerous brands of self leveling concrete compounds on the market, such as mapei, ardet etc. The cost is geneally about $35.00 per 20 Kg bag which covers about 4 square metres, the bag being filled with a cement compound. The material in the bag is added to water and stirred until it is runny. It is poured onto the concrete surface and it then speads out acroos the surface on its own. The person applying it of course helps it a little. The aim is to have an even thickness of 2 to 3mm right accross the floor which covers all the floor's imperfections. Prior to this self leveling concrete compound's application the concrete slab is to be vaccuumed well and primed with a primer compound. This process will create the maximum bonding between the concrete slab's concrete and the self leveling concrete compound. The Primer comes in liquid foam which is rolled on to the concrete surface with a paint roller. It takes about 5 hours to set and go off before the next step of work can be done upon it. The cost of the primer for a 4 litre tub is about $70.00 and this can cover up to 500 square metres.
