Concrete grinding is truly a dusty affair and job. The grinder makes a lot of dust as its diamond blades rips the surface of the concrete and the adhesives adhering to the concrete surface. If only a grinder is used this dust fills the air with copious dust which is unbearable
to work in and takes a long time to settle down. To counter this a very powerful vaccuum unit is attached to the grinder head and the vaccuum unit sucks in most of the dust making the operation nearly dustless. When the job of grinding is completed the floor is vaccumed with the powerful
vaccuum unit to leave a spotless floor ready for the application of the next new flooring.
The grinder and the vaccuum unit draw a lot of electricity, and with a residential home supply of only 10 amps, (single phase power), this mighn't be sufficient to run both units. If the home has 3 phase power, (15 amps) the pwer supply is adequate.
The solution is to either use a smaller concrete grinder and vaccuum unit, or employ a generator. Grinders come in different size heads which require different quantums of power as with vaccuum units.
A proffessional grinder might charge you about $15.00 per square metre depending on the size of the job and the difficulty of the concrete's surface. You can hire the equipment and do it yourself.

Self leveling concrete compounds for flooring and floor leveling in Burnside
There are numerous brands of self leveling concrete compounds on the market, such as mapei, ardet etc. The cost is geneally about $35.00 per 20 Kg bag which covers about 4 square metres, the bag being filled with a cement compound. The material in the bag is added to water
and stirred until it is runny. It is poured onto the concrete surface and it then speads out across the surface on its own. The person applying it of course helps it a little. The aim is to have an even thickness of 2 to 3mm right accross the floor which covers all the floor's imperfections.
The self leveling concrete compound sets in 24 hours and is as hard as the concrete slab's concrete.
Prior to this self leveling concrete compound's application the concrete slab is to be vaccuumed well and primed with a primer compound. This process will create the maximum bonding between the concrete slab's concrete and the self leveling concrete compound. The Primer comes in liquid
foam which is rolled on to the concrete surface with a paint roller. It takes about 5 hours to set and go off before the next step of work can be done upon it. The cost of the primer for a 4 litre tub is about $70.00 and this can cover up to 500 square metres.
