It is essential to have a concrete base floor adequatey level without high and low spots that might compromise the functional integrity of the floorcovering on top of it, such as hybrid, laminate, timber, bamboo and vinyl flooring. In addition an existing floorcovering such as ceramic tiles, might be pulled up and disposed off leaving behind a rough concrete surface that needs to be smoothened out. And then some people simply love the look polished concrete look, with no floorcoverings on top. Concord Floors are experienced in smashing ceramic and porcelain floor tiles and their removal, in concrete grinding and concrete levelling the floors afterwards. Concord Floors offers to the consumers a stand alone smashing ceramic and porcelain floor tiles and their removal, and a stand alone concrete grinding service, a floor levelling service using cement self-levelling compounds and a concrete grinding and polishing service.
As all this grinding and concrete levelling is expensive it is best avoided if at all possible. Most people omit it if they are installing laminates, engineered timber floating floorboards and get away with it. But when it comes to hybrids I wouldn't advise it as the tongue and grove click system isn't as strong as the ones in the laminate and timber systems. If the concrete floor is very uneven then the hybrids' click locking system can fail ruining the whole job. With sheet vinyl installations the floor must be levelled at all costs as the uneveness of the concrete floor would show through the finished vinyl and that would uglify the job.
The Concrete grinding process can be dusty, but dust is kept to a minimum with good vaccuum systems on the polishing machines. Usually the rooms are empty and any furniture that is present in the room is covered with clothe. The Concrete grinding process usually taked a day. Floor concrete polishing takes longer.
